Ladies and gentlemen, fellow classmates, spouses, former teachers, staff members, honored guests (Billy Idol and Molly Ringwald). The reunion committee would like to welcome you all to Mt. Pleasant High School's 20 year reunion for the class of 1986! Tonight is the night to revisit the glorious days our youth, to embrace those treasured memories that have collected dust for far too long. Tonight let us whisk ourselves back to the time when Prince’s song, "1999", seemed a year so far, far away. Let’s go back to the time when a mouse was a rodent and not a computer accessory. Let’s return to those days when A-Ha´s video “Take On Me" was considered the pinnacle of modern technology. Let’s remember the era when we all knew what Michael Jackson REALLY looked like (before his nose fell off). This day has finally arrived! Another major milestone of our lives has been reached, one that celebrates the distinct path each and every one has taken since June of 1986 when we were granted our high school diplomas. 20 years have passed us by, and since the moment when we took our first step in the arena known as the "real world", many of us went on to college, some of us blossomed families, others served our country, or pursued trades and skills. Others of us settled down in far away cities or states, and possibly countries (but defiantly not other planets). Through personal triumphs and tragedies, through love gained and love lost, through major feats achieved and foolish mistakes committed, we have become who we are today. Our experiences have forever shaped us, and for this we are thankful.
